I love working with and learning from those around me in all content areas. Rather than working together and collaborating and becoming all around better teachers, this one particular person specifically seeks me out to tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can do it better (even though my approach is nothing like this person's). I have also had the unfortunate experience of having others feel threatened by my success (as well as the success of other teachers in my building). This has at least been, again, in my own experience. For some, that idea is too much, and they will instead justify you, who you are, and why you are successful, to something unrelated to your work ethic and/or ability. In my experience, acknowledging the time, effort, and hard work to overcome obstacles and become a better educator that YOU have put in means that they would have to acknowledge their lack of personal growth and willingness to adapt. I'm sorry that you are being made to feel and/or are being told otherwise. Just know that you are successful because of you.the time, the effort, the work, the devotion that you put into your job every day. I just don’t have the words other than thank you.

TDRL: My successes at work are often attributed to being seen as cool to the kids and not the result of how I treat them and empathize with their situation. I’m sorry I just needed to rant some place. Again it’s because I’m different to look at and not because I’m constantly taking what it is to be a kid into account or that I remember what it was like for my parents growing up broke. I get along with my parents and students very well.
